Food Systems

Food production, processing and consumption are interconnected all over the world, forming a highly complex “world food system”. This is in turn linked in multiple ways to environmental resources and social welfare, through the use of inputs, the generation of emissions, and the generation of food, livelihoods and economic revenue. Changes in the world food system are urgently required, in order to improve its outcomes for food and nutrition security, the environment, and society. We address this challenge by developing and applying approaches to model, assess and improve the performance, sustainability and resilience of food value chains.
