Biogeochemical Modeling

Our modeling approaches aim to understand effects of regional/global changes on nutrient dynamics in the plant-soil system over space and time. We use complex process-based models to evaluate effects of land use change, management options, and global climate change on plant production, C stocks, and greenhouse gas emissions from soils at the field or larger scale over decades. We also build/use simple models to understand trace gas emissions from various sources and sinks at the level of soil aggregates.
