Research Interest

With my PhD project ‘The Future of Rainfed Agriculture and Sustainable Food Production in Ethiopia’, I focus on study of the impacts of climate dynamics on rainfed agriculture, adaptation and risk management. The main objective of the project is to assess the vulnerability of rainfed agriculture in Ethiopia by combining model simulations of climate change, hydrological, and crop growth, in order to identify effective adaptation pathways and risk management alternatives for future planning of sustainable rainfed farming system in semi-arid and sub-humid agroecosystems of Ethiopia.

My project is financed by the Engineering for Development (E4D) programme of ETH Zurich, which is generously funded through the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.

I work within the Hydrology and Water Resources Management group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Molnar, Institute of Environmental Engineering (IfU), ETH Zurich. Prof. Dr. Johan Six supervises the agronomic and agroecosystem aspects of my work.
