Research Interests

Dimitrios did his PhD within the framework of the Horizon 2020 project "MycoKey". The main objective of his research was to develop prevention strategies in the field in order to avoid infection by Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) causing species and subsequent mycotoxin accumulation in small-grain cereals, i.e. wheat and barley. FHB disease outbreaks may not only lead to substantial yield losses, but also result in severe contamination of harvested products with mycotoxins jeopardising food and feed safety.

Supervised by Dr. Susanne Vogelgsang and Prof. Johan Six as doctoral thesis supervisor at ETH Zurich.
