Research interests
One recently initiated project at the vegetable production extension group of Agroscope is LEGENDARY, KnowLEdGE creation and iNcreasing acreage of legumes in Diversified cropping systems by quAntification of theiR ecosYstem services. This project aims to develop tools and methods to quantify ecosystem services in different cropping systems and agro-climatic zones. Furthermore, collaboration between stakeholders will be sought and used to ensure strong implementation of the project results.
I am employed as PhD student at the vegetable production extension group and I am responsible for the quantification of ecosystem services of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). I will quantify yield, soil erosion and presence of pests, pollinators and weeds associated with common bean production compared with maize and wheat production. This will be done in experimental fields, as well as on-farm production areas. With this doctoral research, I hope to contribute to developing and implementing practically feasible strategies for sustainable food systems.
